Mechanical Design Engineering - Suspension

RANDYS Worldwide•Riverside, CA
•$75,000 - $100,000•Onsite

About The Position

RANDYS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the growth of its suspension business. Based at the Riverside, California facility, this role designs aftermarket suspension, steering, and off-road products from concept through production. The in-house engineering and development team designs, prototypes, manufactures, and tests suspension components and systems across the company’s automotive aftermarket brands. The engineer works directly with engineers and technicians to develop products in SOLIDWORKS, build prototypes, and install and test products on vehicles. The role develops new product lines, expands existing applications, and improves current products for performance, durability, and manufacturing cost. It combines engineering design and analysis with hands-on prototyping, vehicle fitment testing, inspection, collaboration, and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of mechanical design experience in product development, or 8+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced proficiency in SOLIDWORKS, including 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), ANSI drafting standards, and document control.
  • Strong understanding of materials, heat treatment, metal fabrication, welding, and design for manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive hand tools and precision measurement equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Adherence to all applicable safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive aftermarket, off-road, or motorsports product development experience.
  • Suspension, steering, sheet-metal, or gear design experience.
  • SOLIDWORKS Simulation (FEA) and SOLIDWORKS PDM experience.
  • Experience with 3D scanning and reverse engineering.
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing, including hardness, tensile testing, and metallurgy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop products from concept to production, including detailed 3D models and fully toleranced SOLIDWORKS drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Perform stress analysis using SOLIDWORKS Simulation (FEA) to validate designs.
  • Design for manufacturability across machining, sheet metal, fabrication, and welding processes.
  • Improve existing products through design analysis, testing, and engineering changes.
  • Install and remove prototype suspension and steering components and perform vehicle fitment testing.
  • Benchmark competitor and existing products through testing, measurement, and material analysis.
  • Inspect components using precision measurement equipment and coordinate inspection requirements with Quality.
  • Review test data to verify designs meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Work with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to develop products and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct market research to identify new product opportunities.
  • Review engineering drawings for accuracy, tolerances, and fitment.
  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop installation and assembly instructions for technicians and customers.
  • Track project progress in Wrike and communicate updates during team meetings.
