About The Position
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, installation, and support of extrusion blow molding equipment & systems. In this role, you will partner with both internal and external teams to determine project needs and technical feasibility. Requirements
- Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in Mechanical, Project, or Design Engineering.
- Knowledge of related computer software: SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, SAP, Microsoft Excel, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to operate as an effective leader and representative of Plastipak.
- Ability to travel up to 10-15%.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components and systems, including machine upgrades and improvements.
- Create preliminary sketches and detailed drawings, using CAD software.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical support for manufacturing techniques, equipment and processes.
- Investigate equipment failures or faulty operation, recommending corrective action or remedies.
- Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance requirements.
- Partner with Engineers, Technicians, and Vendors to implement operating procedures, provide technical feedback, and prepare design modifications.
- Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.
