About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer Sr will be responsible for the design, development, and improvement of mechanical fixtures for production test. They will also work with a cross-functional team to conduct Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) surveys and perform the required analysis to implement during functional testing. This position supports the Air Dominance Weapon System program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in mechanical, aerospace or related field
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design engineering principles, structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform moderately complex tolerance analysis
  • Minimum 3 years experience with Creo or similar 3D computer-aided design software
  • Have the ability to generate engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications
  • Have the ability to work with team members and contribute to projects
  • Have the ability to contributed to investigative efforts and report status to interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication, presentation, and time management skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally to support test equipment assembly and checkout in factory environment
  • This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test fixture design
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D Printing)
  • Knowledge of Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), RCC319, and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS)/Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) activities
  • Experience with model-based product definition
  • Familiarity with DEWESoft Suite
  • Experience with missile programs

Responsibilities

  • Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for mechanical fixtures used in the production test environment
  • Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM
  • Supporting & upgrading test equipment hardware designs for unit under test (UUT) fixturing
  • Support the build and assembly of hardware and test fixtures
  • Conducting thermal/vibration surveys and performing analysis report generation
  • Analyzing failures/anomalies associated with test equipment, UUTs, UUT fixturing, and providing recommended solutions
  • Coordinating with production teams to maintain test fixture and equipment uptime
  • Managing drawing releases, responding to CRs, generating CN's, and presenting/supporting change boards and design reviews
