About The Position

Perform conceptual and detail design engineering work for CANDU reactor components to applicable codes, standards and procedures. The design activities include but are not limited to the preparation of design documents, technical reports, including technical calculations and drawings. Supervised by senior engineers, while adhering to project plans and schedules, conduct phases of engineering work such as supporting proposal preparation, design engineering, testing, procurement, as well as manufacturing, and installation support. Prepare responses to technical questions, from reviewers or clients. Report progress on day-to-day work to leads and managers. Develop information and prepare technical documents, such as: engineering drawings and bill of materials, calculations, design specifications, design assessment, design requirements, design manuals, technical specifications (for testing, fabrication, and site installation), etc. Support the technical supervisor leads in preparing registration packages for pressure boundary designs. Support the technical supervisor in interfaces with the regulatory bodies, such as: TSSA and CNSC, as required. Perform reviews and design verification for the design and engineering work done by others, per qualifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a university of recognized standing.
• Candidate to be licensed or soon eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Mechanical design experience 3 to 6 years.
• Experience in classical stress calculations.
• Experience in working following codes, standards and procedures.
• Proved record of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Proven record to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
• Proven record for strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Drive for continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

• Trained and experienced in the application of GD&T is an asset.
