About The Position

Reuter-Stokes researchers and engineers have collaborated with customers to design, produce, and install reliable equipment for harsh environments. Our solutions include precise radiation measurement, nuclear reactor monitoring, UV flame detection, and downhole sensing for directional drilling. Today, more than 100,000 Reuter-Stokes detectors are deployed around the world. This role involves working with a cross-functional engineering team to maintain and develop products for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear product line, either as improvements to existing designs or as part of new product development. The engineer will develop and/or review detailed component and system designs to meet new product specifications, ensuring analytical robustness and empirical testing and verification. The role also requires ensuring DFSS and DFM rigor, coordinating project tasks, and collaborating with various teams to meet internal and external requirements. Fostering a creative environment and supporting technical discussions with customers are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
  • 2-3 years' experience in Design Engineering experience.
  • Experience with a CAD package (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with product development processes (Stage-Gate is preferred).
  • Problem solving.
  • Translation of cross-functional inputs into design outputs.
  • Design for regulatory compliance and product safety.
  • Requirements decomposition.
  • Technical report authorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Sensors Design preferred.
  • Experience with New Product Design is a plus.
  • Experience with an ERP system such as SAP is a plus.
  • Professional certifications held or in progress are a plus (FE, EIT, PE, or other).

Responsibilities

  • Working with a cross-functional engineering team to maintain and develop products for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear product line, either as improvements to existing designs or as part of new product development.
  • Developing and/or reviewing detailed component and system designs to meet new product specifications.
  • Ensuring component and system designs are analytically robust, and empirically tested and verified.
  • Ensuring that proper DFSS and DFM rigor has been applied throughout the design process, in collaboration with other Technology team members and other functions.
  • Coordinating multiple project tasks with project managers and functional managers.
  • Working directly with the respective Product Line Leader, Quality, Manufacturing, and other Functional Teams to ensure products meet internal and external requirements, start to finish, and provide for continued growth of the product line.
  • Fostering a creative environment; allowing for new ideas while embracing speed and excellence.
  • Leveraging, expanding, and creating design best practices.
  • Supporting technical discussions with customers as needed.
