About IMRVS Sector Quartus' Industrial Metrology, Robotics, and Vision Systems (IMRVS) Sector provides engineering services and product development for a wide variety of applications in precision manufacturing and automation. We leverage our expertise in ruggedized optical systems, image processing, camera calibration, robotics, and software development to build complete solutions for our client’s toughest metrology and quality assurance needs. Our multi-disciplinary team specializes in automated optical metrology and robotic vision systems and integrates offerings from our product and technology portfolio to efficiently move from client requirements to turn-key inspection instruments and machines. What will you do? As a Mechanical Design Engineer Co-op/Intern, you will design, develop, and build robust mechanics for our projects high performance optical systems. You will work as part of a team of creative cross-disciplinary engineers to meet project and customer’s requirements and can gain exposure to a wide variety of optical systems from airborne remote sensing to industrial automation and everything in between.

Requirements

  • Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors currently enrolled at a four-year institution
  • Majoring in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Proactive, open-minded, eager to learn and willing to work hard as part of a team
  • Interested in mechanical design and opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Available full time for specified term (40 hours per week)
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop opto-mechanical assemblies and sub-systems
  • Design and build prototypes, create detailed drawings and instructions for production
  • Test and implement full systems before sending the final product to the customers
  • Help varify appropriate mechanical design elements by building a tolerance budget for each component
  • Responsible for technical documentation (Models, CAD drawings, Simulations, BOMs, etc.)
  • Work closely with program manager and customer on technical requirements
  • Work on projects independently, and with a multi-disciplined team of engineers and technicians
