About The Position

Talen Energy is inviting enthusiastic candidates to apply for our 2025 Engineering Summer Internship at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. As one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., the Susquehanna Station generates approximately 2700 MW of electricity, powering the Northeastern Pennsylvania grid. The Talen Energy Engineering Internship is a comprehensive work-study program designed to provide college students with hands-on experience in both power plant operations and office settings. Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering.
Must be a full-time student (minimum 12 semester hours).
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Must be 18 years of age or older and able to provide an official transcript and other required documentation.
Eligible to work in the U.S. in accordance with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the achievement of departmental goals through special projects.
Engage with senior executives and gain insights into the energy industry.

Participate in impactful community service projects.
Support various Engineering activities (Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
Perform nuclear fuel management analysis.
Develop performance indicators for nuclear risk assessment.
Create parameter displays for the plant process computer system.
Automate the development of Control Rod Movement Sheets.
Assist with plant modifications and engineering work requests.
Conduct calculations, analysis, and specifications supporting plant upgrades.
Update plant electrical system analysis to incorporate change mechanisms and optimize system capabilities.
Generate user interface pages for monitoring equipment performance.
Participate in a "Missing Megawatts and Thermal Performance" project, including steam system walkdowns and the use of thermal monitoring software.
Collaborate on a pilot project to develop radiation-resistant instruments for wireless applications.
Investigate thermal losses, estimate megawatt impacts, and develop solution strategies.
