About The Position

This position is for Ejection Seating located at our Colorado Springs, CO facility where we design, test, and manufacture Ejection Seats for the USAF as well as international partners. The position will be responsible for providing engineering deliverables through all phases of development, bid and proposals, support through qualification testing, and initial production implementation. This individual will propose new technology, create innovative design solutions, execute design reviews, work directly with customers, and support testing of the ejection seat products. This position is for a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Dynamic Systems Engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience presenting design solutions to internal and external customers
  • 3D CAD experience with high end CAD software (e.g. NX, Catia)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience using Unigraphics/NX CAD experience including Enovia PLM experience
  • Experience with Kinematic modeling of Dynamic components (e.g. assembly relations, mechanical movements, and/or simulations)
  • Previous experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Previous experience with aircraft cockpit, crew station, escape system, ejection seat, or crew systems design
  • Previous experience with machining, sheet metal, composites, and fabric design
  • Previous experience with energetic cartridge actuated devices or propellant actuated devices
  • Previous experience of aerospace/military specifications
  • Proven use of Continuous Improvement principles and/or design optimization experience
  • Understanding of mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis to resolve ejection seat dynamic system design challenges.
  • Support through all phases of design including: bid and proposal, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, qualification testing, new product introduction, production implementation, and in-production support.
  • Successfully execute on design/project tasks required to develop and qualify aircraft ejection seats by ensuring technical scope integrity and budget/schedule accuracy
  • Work as part of a cohesive team with test engineering, product engineering, system engineering, and program management
  • Support program by technical writing presentations and reports for customer approval
  • Support Program Management with any preparation of bids and proposals
  • Support Systems Engineering on requirements analysis and the requirement compliance plan.
  • Interacts with Business Development department to ensure customer satisfaction and business strategies
