About The Position

This engineering position is responsible for developing designs for Mechanical Ground Support Equipment for our Launch complexes at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Bases. Key responsibilities include: Create models and produce/release drawings used for fabrication. Designs shall be optimized for manufacturing, producibility, and usability Work with ULA subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance Support first use of hardware to ensure proper installation and processing Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites Perform preliminary strength calculations before engaging Strength team for final buy off

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university
  • Proficient with CAD software, preferably NX
  • Proficient in drawing standards and experience with GD&T
  • Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work experience on projects in which integration between different engineering disciplines occurred (e.g. structural, electrical, test, analysis)
  • Able to work independently to determine and develop solutions to a variety of engineering problems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing to turn designs into hardware
  • Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites or vendors.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available
  • U.S. Persons as defined in ITAR 22 CFR 120.62 (e.g., U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or protected individual)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Mechanical ground systems and strength analysis
  • Experience with welded steel and aluminum structures
  • Familiarity with machine shop practices
  • Teamcenter, MS vOffice, and MS Project experience
