Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or greater
  • 8+ years' work experience
  • 3+ years of direct experience in a critical facility operation, such as a data center or hospital.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Experience with chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or significant other mechanical experiences
  • Pass the NITC Journey Level HVAC exam within the first year of employment.
  • Have current EPA 608 Universal preferred or must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Ability to work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • Ability to use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have already passed the NITC Journey-Level HVAC Exam are preferred.
  • Current EPA 608 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing the complex mechanical systems in data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing plants.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including chillers, boilers, CRAC/CRAH units, and air handling units.
  • Install, maintain, and repair minor plumbing systems, including pumps, valves, and piping.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment using knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Monitoring and controlling environmental systems using BMS platforms like Niagara Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls.
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Tracking and documenting work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities using CMMS software.
