About The Position

The mid-level mechanical consultant completes mechanical design with little direction or input from supervisor/ mentor from project start through Construction Administration on a project of average complexity. In this role the primary role is to work on mechanical design with little direction or input from supervisor/ mentor from start to finish and through Construction Administration on a project of average complexity. Understands code requirements and properly applies them to the project. Seeks feedback/ validation on design decisions. Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply designs of increasing complexity. Perform individual aspects of mechanical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to the following: HVAC – Split system/Package Heat Pumps, Chilled Water/Hot Water Hydronics, Steam/Condensate, Constant volume and variable volume air distribution systems. Plumbing – Medical gas systems, Hot and cold water/waste and vent systems, Compressed air systems. Fire Protection – Performance drawings and specification for wet pipe and dry pipe systems. Understands and implements cross-discipline coordination both internal and External. Performs self QC on work and plans for/seeks appropriate peer review of work. Sees the mechanical construction of the project through completion; RFI’s owner/ architect/ contractor meeting attendance, submittals, construction observation site visits and reports. Performs appropriate field work to determine a design direction and develop record drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
  • Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
  • 2-8 years of experience
  • Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/ HVAC Load Analysis Program (HAP or TRACE)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service capabilities.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to work in the United States.
  • Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
  • Work independently and in a team environment
