About The Position

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Specialist to join our MEP team in the Tampa, Florida (FL) office. This is not a remote position. The role involves providing commissioning related services for MEP engineering projects during construction phases, performing quality checks and inspections on installed systems, and testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting hardware, sensors, and control panels. The specialist will also track project progress, complete checklists, log deficiencies, coordinate with contractors, vendors, and project managers during startup, and write field reports to verify compliance with project specifications.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical construction
• General Knowledge of in the following disciplines HVAC, Plumbing/piping, BMS controls & lighting systems
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Construction Management knowledge
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients
• Positive attitude and an impressive work ethic
• Clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines
• Attention to details and ability to contribute to a positive work environment
• Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals

Nice To Haves

• Experience in computer operation and the ability to learn engineering calculation programs and computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose of accessing and interpreting design requirements, is a plus.
• Documented commissioning training from a nationally recognized professional body, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide commissioning related services for MEP engineering projects during construction phases.
