At Raytheon Vision Systems, we manufacture advanced infrared detectors and semiconductor materials that power mission-critical sensing technologies for defense and aerospace applications. Our production environment is highly specialized, involving cleanroom operations, precision crystal growth, and rigorous metrology to ensure the highest standards of quality and performance. As a Mechanical and Automation Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in modernizing aspects of the backbone of our manufacturing operations. You’ll work hands-on in a fast-paced, cleanroom-based production setting where attention to detail, safety, and collaboration are essential. Your work will support the fabrication and testing of semiconductor materials from tooling design using CAD applications to system configurations and evaluations related to automation. Success in this role requires not only strong technical skills, but also the ability to work closely with engineers, technicians, and production staff in a controlled environment. You’ll be expected to understand the urgency of production schedules, communicate clearly across disciplines, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance yield, reliability, and throughput.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with common software tools for data manipulation and data extraction such as: Matlab, Minitab, MS Excel, ProE
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors in Mechanical engineering, Physics, or Chemistry
  • Experience in production environment and multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash/Shell, PowerShell).
  • Data validation and quality assurance methodologies.
  • A motivated and self-starting individual who interacts well in a team environment that includes both company colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize CAD software to generate accurate drawings
  • Evaluate manufacturing process steps for automation
  • Develop system configuration for optimal productivity
  • Apply statistical and mathematical methods to quantify outcomes, analyze process data and improve yield.
  • Apply advanced mathematical methods for data analysis
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to understand production workflows and data needs.
  • Work in controlled areas, cleanrooms, laboratories etc.
  • Develop fundamental understanding of crystal growth and epitaxial processes
