About The Position

The Vertex Mechanical Automation Co-Op program is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards an undergraduate or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related fields. If you are passionate, collaborative, and growth-minded, a co-op at Vertex will help you gain meaningful experience in our Automating Machinery & Processes functional areas and serve as a launchpad for your career. Requirements

  • Mechanical Design
  • Solidworks 3D modeling
  • Mechanical Drawings & GD&T
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products (word, powerpoint, excel)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or another related field
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future.
  • Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2027
  • Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January – June 2027

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Automating Machinery & Processes team to streamlining manufacturing, enhancing manufacturing reliability, and scaling life-saving therapies to reach patients faster.
  • Designing or participating in the design process of mechanisms, robotics, IMRs, and automated equipment.
  • Developing Detailed Design Specifications for automated equipment, including 3D models, Detailed Drawings with GD&T, Bill of Materials, Manuals, and Maintenance Procedures.
  • Creating Mechanical Technical Readiness Plans for Automated Equipment, Equipment Layouts, and Facility and Utility Requirements for Automated Equipment.
  • Generating FAT and SAT Reports.
