About The Position

CED is well situated in Downers Grove, Illinois - we are located a commuter train ride west of Chicago and a short drive from farmland. CED's current salary range for this role is $20.00-26.50/ hour. At CED, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, location and geography. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. Requirements

  • Function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent fine motor skills to work with very small devices, microscopes, and tools.
  • Work effectively with personnel from all levels of the company
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be eligible to possess explosive under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling small electro-explosive units with a number of detailed parts, following standardized methods.
  • Follow detailed procedures for NASA, SpaceX, and other aerospace industry leaders.
  • Assemble hardware from scratch using parts list, custom tooling, and pneumatic press crimping, making intricate fittings.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools to build and troubleshoot ordnance and pyrotechnic assemblies.
  • Attention to detail when using digital scales, measuring devices, and microscopes for small intricate amounts and sizes.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, procedures and drawings while maintaining government and aerospace industry standards.
  • Attention to detail when filling out assembly paperwork. Individual operators performing procedural steps are ultimately accountable for the integrity of assembly paperwork.
