About The Position
SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America. The right candidate will be a safety-minded person who enjoys hands-on work. They will be able to assemble and disassemble various components, document daily activities, and possess good mechanical skills in daily operations. This role involves performing cleaning, grinding, painting, and all related tasks to buildings, equipment, components, and subassemblies. It also includes cleaning, removal of trash, coolant, oil, scrap, chips, etc. The candidate must be courteous and work well with others, complete Maintenance Request Forms for items in the work area in need of repair, and maintain a safe and clean working environment, upholding a world-class standard of housekeeping. A safety-conscious attitude and the ability to report any unsafe acts or areas to management are essential.
Requirements
- Good mechanical skills.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical tools.
- Basic shop math, and other functions necessary for the job.
- Blueprint reading - interprets drawings.
- Self-motivation to identify, analyze and independently work to find solutions to flow issues is essential.
- Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas.
- Must be courteous and work well with others.
- Ability to work with a safety conscientious attitude.
Responsibilities
