About The Position

The Mechanical Assembler I is responsible for the final assembly of doors per the daily production schedule. This involves reviewing daily requirements, work instructions, and bills of materials via i-Pad to locate and gather components, followed by staging, prepping, and assembling the parts. Requirements

  • Ability to work the 1st shift schedule of 5:00 am - 1:30 pm Monday - Friday.
  • Strong mechanical assembly background.
  • Ability to read and interpret reports, work instructions, and blueprints.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds frequently.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, and stand frequently.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage more than one task simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
  • Must be able to read and use a standard tape measure as well as other measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • Some electrical assembly is preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final assemblies of door orders and manufactured parts per the daily production schedule.
  • Read and follow blueprints, work orders, and other instructions to build and assemble parts accurately and efficiently.
  • Pull stock components (small parts, hardware, and weldments).
  • Attach motor, chain, straps, or any other components needed per the bill of materials in the weldments.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of manufactured parts.
  • Clean and properly mark final assembly.
  • Inspect final assembly and move to staging area.
  • Keep area clean and organized.
  • Monitor stock levels.
  • Troubleshoot issues that may arise.
  • Uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
