About The Position

The Mechanical Assembler 3 (Temporary) will be responsible for expert-level assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with current engineering configurations. Work includes new product assembly, refurbished components/assemblies, testing, engineering prototype development, and building maintenance.

Requirements

  • Independently lead the assembly of sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and systems per manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials, schematics, and instructions
  • Expert level proficiency operating and selecting appropriate hand tools and small power tools with a full understanding of their use and function
  • Advanced knowledge using precision measuring tools and full understanding required fitments/tolerances
  • Expert knowledge of pneumatic schematics, symbols, and plumbing
  • Strong working knowledge of water/hydraulic schematics, symbols, and plumbing
  • Perform detailed inspections of all work before passing it on to the next operation
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts on assemblies down to individual component level to determine root cause of failure and collaborate with engineering to find corrective action
  • Perform required repairs/refurbishments to return assembly to operational state
  • Proactively keep supervisor informed of all potential issues for quick resolution
  • Provide advanced support to the production supervisor on all production assignments, mentor lower-level assemblers, and work with other departments regarding special work assignments
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts and assist with identifying discrepancies and process improvements
  • Adhere to all safety policies and guidelines, serving as a role model for safe work behavior
  • Must own basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, hammers, screw drivers, pliers, etc) and keep tools at work
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Experience: 9+ years’ experience in machine building with thorough knowledge and understanding of blueprints, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; or relevant job-specific experience
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Position will require daily utilization of Microsoft Teams, D365, and Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience assembling capital equipment
  • Experience in the tire and rubber industry is a plus
  • Expert ability to build equipment by reading/interpreting blueprints, schematics, assembly instructions, work orders, engineering drawings/models, etc. to enable production of parts consistent with current engineering configuration
  • Actively contribute to the creation of work instructions for future use
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong digital and analog skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner
  • Machine shop experience using milling machine and lathe is a plus
  • Welding/soldering/brazing experience is a plus
  • Tow motor experience is a plus
  • Overhead crane experience is a plus
  • Flexibility with customers’ changing requirements, available to work overtime as needed, including weekends
