About The Position

This role involves operating and inspecting equipment to diagnose defects, performing repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance. Responsibilities include dismantling and reassembling machinery, examining parts for wear, repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, and replacing subassemblies. The position also requires welding, cutting, fabricating, and performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and tire repairs. Record keeping, requisitioning parts, and maintaining a clean facility are also key duties. The job requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use hands to manipulate tools, and involves extended periods of standing and walking, often in outdoor conditions. Other physical demands include crawling under trucks, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, working at elevated heights, and manipulating components in hard-to-reach places. Good hearing is also essential.

Requirements

  • CDL B with air brakes
  • 5-7 years experience
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment & mixer trucks
  • Knowledge of engines
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Knowledge of braking systems
  • Knowledge of driveline to include clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials
  • Knowledge of steering mechanisms and suspensions
  • Knowledge of electrical systems

Responsibilities

  • Operating and inspecting equipment to diagnose defects
  • Visually inspecting and listening to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
  • Dismantling and reassembling trucks, machines, and equipment to gain access to problem area
  • Examining parts for damage or excessive wear and determining re-usability
  • Repairing, replacing, cleaning, and lubricating parts as necessary
  • Repairing malfunctioning hydraulic components
  • Diagnosing and correcting electrical problems
  • Replacing malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g., transmissions, clutches, differentials, engines, etc.)
  • Welding, cutting, and fabricating of all equipment and components
  • Changing oil, checking and changing batteries, and performing complete lubrication tasks on equipment and machinery
  • Changing tires and repairing tires and tubes
  • Testing repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Performing preventive maintenance
  • Making recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources
  • Requisitioning parts and equipment
  • Record keeping and reporting
  • Providing general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility
