About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting building systems and equipment within the nursing home facility to ensure a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, and facility equipment.

Requirements

  • High School equivalent with shop courses required.
  • Technical or vocational training in maintenance or mechanical systems preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, nursing home or industrial facilities preferred.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull equipment and materials as needed.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to complete light electrical and plumbing work.
  • Knowledge of blueprints, hand tools, power tools and woodworking power tools required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, infection control standards and nursing home polices.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and building systems.
  • Monitor facility grounds and perform seasonal maintenance such as snow removal or salting when required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to scheduled programs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records and work orders.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
  • Report safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
