About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic performs preventive maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles and equipment at an assigned facility or remote locations as needed. The role maintains fleet records and equipment availability, inspects and tests vehicles, diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical issues, and follows maintenance and asset-branding procedures. The position upholds AWP’s mission and core values, including protecting customers’ people, business, and time.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
Ability to follow safe workplace practices.
Valid driver’s license without suspension or revocation and insurable under company policies.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting or carrying objects up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, strenuous physical labor, and good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of prior experience in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment.
Inspect and test vehicles to keep equipment available for use, including completing engine tune-ups and maintenance of brake systems and electrical devices.
Maintain vehicle condition by reviewing operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures and mechanical or electrical malfunctions, and replacing parts and components.
Repair and maintain fleet and other equipment.
Inspect and evaluate fleet vehicles and equipment.
Follow maintenance programs and procedures.
Maintain asset-branding procedures.
Monitor and maintain vehicle equipment standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
