About The Position

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with over 100 years of history, operating as one of the world's largest woven textile mills. The company designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for a diverse clientele including furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers. This role is for a Mechanic responsible for maintaining looms in optimal working condition for the Weaving Department.

Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
High school diploma or GED.
Mechanical aptitude.
Weaving and fixing experience required.

Responsibilities

Repair looms when flagged and prioritize simple jobs first.
Note time on technician card and enter declarations on Computrol.
Implement lockout and tag procedures while working on looms.
Return broken or damaged parts to the supply room and exchange them for new ones.
Perform assigned maintenance on looms during warp outs.
Report problem looms to the supervisor.
Communicate issues to technicians on incoming shifts.
Patrol the job area and assist Card Changers/Samples (Sample Weavers) with quality and production.
Perform duties of Card Changer/Samples when primary responsibilities are completed.
Submit a daily yardage report.
Perform other assigned duties.
Maintain 5 S Standards of safety.
Perform all duties in a safe manner following established guidelines.
Immediately report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor.
Actively participate in safety programs focused on identifying, investigating, and correcting safety hazards.
