About The Position

AgVantage FS is seeking a Mechanic to schedule and perform vehicle and equipment repairs in response to requests from staff and location managers. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency of our vehicles and equipment across our branches in Northern and Eastern Iowa. The Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring all maintenance and repairs are documented, parts inventory is managed, and the shop is kept in good order. This position is part of the GROWMARK System, a large agricultural cooperative.

Requirements

• High school diploma, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of related work experience
• Fabrication, cutting, welding, bearing replacement, engine service/maintenance/adjustments (both gas & diesel), automotive electrical, brake adjustment/repair (both mechanical & air) and hydraulic troubleshooting/repair skills
• Business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development abilities
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• Acceptable CDL with Hazmat and tanker endorsements
• Ability to work extended hours
• Ability to travel independently and overnight
• Ability and willingness to participate in required training

Responsibilities

• Schedules maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment as requested
• Maintains an appropriate inventory of parts necessary for repairs and maintenance
• Maintains service records of each piece of equipment and vehicle to document a quality maintenance program and meet DOT requirements
• Responsible for housekeeping of the shop
• May be required to provide backup to drivers in the Energy and Crops Departments
• Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply
• Performs all other duties as assigned
