About The Position

This position is responsible for performing work and maintenance for cars, trucks, construction equipment, and works under the Shop Manager. The role requires extensive knowledge of vehicle, construction equipment, and small engine maintenance and repairs, proficiency with diagnostic equipment and software, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Mechanic will identify mechanical problems, plan and estimate repairs, order parts, perform routine and preventative maintenance, and conduct post-repair diagnostics.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle, construction equipment, and small engine maintenance and repairs.
  • Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.

  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to utilize asset tracking software.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

  • Reading equipment manuals and schematics.

  • Technical degree from an accredited institution preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License must be able to pass Company MVR policy.

Responsibilities

  • Collect information on vehicle and equipment history, problems, and known maintenance or repairs required.
  • Identify mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform tests on specific parts and systems to determine proper operation.
  • Examine critical parts and systems using standard checklists.
  • Plan repairs and timetables for completion; provide Shop Manager with time and cost estimates.
  • Order parts as determined.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
  • Conduct post-repair diagnostics and confirm that repairs have been made properly and problems have been resolved.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
