About The Position
The Mechanic performs structural steel demolition and removal activities in an industrial facility. Responsibilities include dismantling, cutting, removing, sorting, and loading structural steel materials for recycling, disposal, or transport. The Mechanic safely uses hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment to complete assigned work.
Requirements
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to safely dismantle and remove structural steel.
- Ability to safely handle materials during demolition activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety and productivity.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous demolition, construction, industrial, or mechanical experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Dismantle and remove structural steel components.
- Cut, sort, stage, and prepare steel for loading and transport.
- Assist with scrap removal and material handling activities.
- Load structural steel and scrap materials into trailers or designated containers.
- Operate hand tools and power tools required for demolition activities.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Follow company safety requirements and work procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and job briefings.
- Complete required timekeeping and work documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
