About The Position

The Mechanic troubleshoots, repairs, and overhauls heavy machinery, including Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and related systems. The role requires independent use of diagnostic equipment and sound repair judgments to reduce equipment downtime. The Mechanic also assists the Warehouseman as required by the General Foreman and must provide their own tools, as described in the MHE Basic Tool List.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of heavy equipment overhaul and repair experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to meet and maintain eligibility for a Secret Clearance and/or access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards. The listed salary range is $30–$36 per hour.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in heavy equipment overhaul and repair.
• Complete understanding of the operation and troubleshooting and overhaul methods for heavy machinery, including Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proficiency using diagnostic equipment while working independently.
• Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting and overhaul repair principles and methods for diesel and electrical equipment.
• Ability to repair or overhaul major assemblies and systems by following applicable technical manuals.
• Must possess own tools; see the MHE Basic Tool List.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and overhaul all types of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• Repair or overhaul major assemblies and systems, including power train differentials, transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems, emission control systems, and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other sub-assemblies, following applicable technical manuals.
• Use diagnostic equipment and make sound repair and overhaul judgments to reduce equipment downtime.
• Assist the Warehouseman as required by the General Foreman.
