About The Position

As a Mechanic, you will play a critical role in keeping MLDS Trucking's fleet operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT regulations by performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and related equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated experience or certifications performing mechanical and electrical repairs on over-the-road tractors and trailers.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Ability to read and understand repair documentation, conduct basic mathematical calculations, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must provide and maintain required personal tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing DOT inspections and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Aluminum MIG welding experience.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and fleet management practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor other technicians.
  • Experience assessing equipment failures and leading repair diagnostics.
  • Ability to perform complex repairs independently and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel tractors, pneumatic trailers, and other fleet equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct and document DOT inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operation.
  • Maintain accurate repair, maintenance, and inspection records.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs to improve fleet reliability.
  • Respond to service calls and participate in on-call rotations as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with operations teams, supervisors, and dispatchers to support safety and operational efficiency.
