The Mechanic II is responsible for maintenance tasks that are preventive or corrective in nature. The employee must demonstrate a high level of mechanical ability in a variety of different tasks requiring knowledge in electrical, HVAC, steam, medical gases, pneumatic, plumbing, and alarm systems. Other responsibilities include assisting with routine tests, fire alarm, sprinkler drop tests, Emergency generator load tests, emergency battery lighting tests, line isolation tests, and new equipment inspections. The employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances. The employee is required to assess each job and use the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing related job functions, checking with a supervisor if unsure of needed PPE. The employee may be required to work weekends or take 'Call' as scheduled and respond to all pages within 10 minutes and be at the organization within 60 minutes. Participation in continuing education as mandated per department and system policy is required, including Safety Management Plan, Security Management Plan, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Plan, Emergency Management Plan, Fire Safety Management Plan, Medical Equipment Management Plan, Utility Management Plan, and Annual Hospital Wide & Legal Compliance In-service. The employee is required to assist others in the department outside normal duties and carry a pager, radio, and/or PDA while on duty, responding to all calls immediately.
