About The Position

KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat-resistant alloys and high-nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology. As per customer requirements, Kubota designs and casts centrifugal pipes and static castings of fittings, which are then machined, welded (Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Orbital & Manual), GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, followed by in-house NDT (RT, PT, VT), in-house DT, R&D lab, as well as hydro testing. Responsible for performing all general maintenance functions under the guidance of Kubota’s Millwrights and electricians to buildings and equipment either new or in service in a safe and responsible manner as well as maintaining our ISO standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 education required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a maintenance department within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in safe material handling techniques relating to maintenance supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize where to improve when routine or normal procedures are not adequate due to production needs or demands.
  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills, include Microsoft Office Suite (i.e Excel and Word) and Google Docs.
  • Demonstrated positive work record and excellent attendance record.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong ability to follow instruction and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work within established timelines.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a team environment with multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate verbally and in written form.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a recognized apprenticeship in the Mechanical Maintenance trade with a Government of Ontario Registration is considered an asset, (Millwright Certification 433A).
  • Health and Safety (WHMIS, Crane Operating, Confined Space, etc.) Training Certificates considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure work area(s) comply with safe and proper housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Advise Supervisor of defective parts for replacement without delay.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe material handling techniques and be conversant in the safe operation of material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the necessary cleaning operations relating to the use of maintenance parts and/or equipment or production parts and equipment as required to ensure either continuing operations or further maintenance work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, maintenance manuals and bills of material for any machine or equipment.
  • Ensure workorders are logged correctly, updated and managed through the workorder system to ensure staff have real-time updated status of all ongoing projects.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, pulleys and all mechanical parts and function of the various machines and equipment in the plant.
  • To perform general maintenance tasks and assist skilled trades using various hand tools and stationary equipment such as band saw, power threader, cut off saws and drill press.
  • Order supplies, update blue cards to ensure the stock levels are not compromised resulting in prolonged breakdowns.
  • Participate in the planning and scheduling of required upcoming maintenance tasks to be performed.
  • Report issues to supervisors as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
