About The Position
This position is located within the Office of Management & Finance - Fleet/Facility operations in Ouachita Parish. Join the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry as a Mechanic! Incumbent serves as mechanic for the Department of Agriculture & Forestry’s Automotive Shop, Office of Management & Finance. Duties entail the independent performance of advanced, highly skilled automotive mechanic work relative to the repair and maintenance of light and heavy-duty diesel and gasoline-powered automotive equipment, as well as all passenger vehicles. Requirements
- One year of experience or training as a mechanic.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Mack and Freightliner heavy equipment diagnostics.
- Experience with FASTER fleet program.
Responsibilities
- Repair and overhaul of heavy-duty diesel tractor/trailer rigs, as well as heavy-duty diesel and gasoline trucks (light and heavy) and passenger cars.
- Diagnosis of operational and malfunctions of both diesel and internal combustion engines and subsequent repair or replacement of parts as necessary.
- Uses a laptop to diagnose heavy equipment (Mack, freight liner) and diagnostic equipment to diagnose vehicles.
- Overhaul, repair, and replace components such as transmissions, all running gear, electrical cooling systems, and related work as required.
- Maintains appropriate records in the FASTER fleet program relative to equipment, including breakdown of parts, labor, downtime, and related information.
- Other duties as assigned.
