About The Position

SA Recycling is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various brands and types of heavy equipment. The work includes electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics, parts inventory and ordering, report writing, and scheduling. The position is based at the Savannah yard and includes local travel to other SA Recycling yards for maintenance and repair work.

The mechanic works outdoors in varying weather conditions and must follow SA Recycling’s Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and procedures. The work environment is a scrap yard and large-equipment metal-processing area, with moderate physical demands.

Requirements

• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
• Must complete and successfully pass a drug screen, physical examination, and background check.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational or technical degree.
• Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, cooling, and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, and brake work, in accordance with manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
• Maintain accurate service records for all work performed.
• Order and maintain spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly working area.
• Use assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools safely and properly.
• Perform all work in accordance with SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
