About The Position

This position is responsible for performing services and minor repairs to tractor and trailers with guidance and little supervision. The mechanic will also be expected to work independently while on call, performing tire repairs and replacements, and minor repairs on equipment such as air leaks, light malfunctions, battery and cable malfunctions, and trailer repairs. The Mechanic 1 should have sufficient knowledge and skill level to perform PM services and most repairs with guidance and little supervision. They will be expected to ask questions and seek out information on tasks that they are unfamiliar with. Training will be provided in all aspects of the Mechanic Position, including the proper use of shop tools, service truck tools, and safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of tractor/trailer or heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• Dependable, safety‑conscious, and able to follow instructions.
• Strong customer service skills and consistent on‑time performance.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. (Possession of a Class A CDL is not required and can result in increased pay within the Tier)

Responsibilities

• Has sufficient tools for the job up to ½ inch drive.
• Ability to perform services and minor repairs to tractor and trailers with guidance and little supervision.
• Working knowledge of computers, can follow instructions on how to navigate the work order software, Mechanics Workstation.
• Ability to work as an individual while on call performing tire repairs and replacements, minor repairs on equipment such as air leaks, light malfunctions, battery and cable malfunctions and trailer repairs.
• Perform PM services and most repairs with guidance and little supervision.
• Ask questions and seek out information on tasks that they are unfamiliar with.
• Train in all aspects of the Mechanic Position.
• Learn proper use of shop tools, service truck tools, and safety procedures.
