About The Position

Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Mechanic who is responsible for providing mechanical maintenance and repair services on District-owned vehicles and heavy equipment. This role involves evaluating mechanical problems, performing preventative maintenance and routine/specialized repairs, and recommending parts or vehicle replacements. The position also supports strategic planning, assists with shop improvements, and maintains necessary records.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
Three years' experience as a gas and diesel mechanic.
Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License Class B with passenger and bus endorsement.
Pass annual physical required for "Bus Driver's Certificate"
Excellent driving record (indicating 3 or fewer moving violation citations during the past 3 years)
Ability to determine type of work necessary for repair.
Troubleshooting ability.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance.
Ability to operate motor vehicles.
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
Ability to interpret instructions and specifications.
Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance.
Ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
Supports and assists in strategic planning for developing the Performance Excellence Plan for Metro Technology Centers.
Evaluates mechanical problems of vehicles and heavy equipment and determines work to be performed.
Performs preventative maintenance on all types of District vehicles.
Performs routine and specialized vehicle repairs up to and including the rebuilding of engines.
Recommends when mechanical parts are to be rebuilt or new ones to be used; suggests replacement of vehicles when repair is not cost effective.
Assists in the design and construction of improvements for the shop area.
Inspects own work done on vehicles, including road test.
Assists in maintaining the shop area.
Maintains necessary records of work performed.
Driving District vehicle to carry materials and supplies, and for moving from campus to campus.
Demonstrates a positive, cooperative attitude toward work assignments and requirements.
Complies with established work rules, ethics and organizational policies.
Performs related duties as assigned.
