About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to join their team. This family-owned company, established in 1978, specializes in standard, next-day, ground delivery and has expanded throughout the Midwest. The Mechanic/Vehicle Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing various vehicle systems including gasoline engines, powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. The role requires the use of scan tools and laptop technology, performing routine truck inspections and maintenance, and maintaining a clean work environment. The company is offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for full-time hires.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems
• Diagnose and repair diesel emission systems
• Use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Work independently and/or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Perform other related duties as assigned
