This position requires a thorough knowledge of auto repair. The Mechanic/Utility diagnoses all mechanical and operating difficulties of vehicles, repairs defects, and replaces worn or broken parts. The role also performs minor repairs for plumbing and electrical work. The job involves maintaining and repairing small equipment such as small engines, weedwackers, chainsaws, and gang mowers, as well as heavy and light vehicles like automobiles, trucks, and tractors. Automotive repair work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with road calls to various City locations. The position also includes performing welding work on necessary structures and equipment, sharpening and repairing mowing equipment, and diagnosing and repairing defects in electrical and mechanical systems. Additionally, the role involves turning water on and off for park facilities and maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies. A clean and organized work area must be maintained, along with necessary inspections. Other related duties may also be required.
