As a Mechanic Trainee, you’ll repair and overhaul gas turbine engines. This position is considered to be the core business activity within the company and contains a number of different tasks. A fully trained Mechanic is able to complete to a certain degree, tasks related to the cleaning, assembly, disassembly, inspection, balancing, airflow and test of a gas turbine engine in accordance with the manufacturer specification and company procedures. This role requires physical fitness and the ability to safely handle engine components using hoists and material-handling equipment, with frequent movement throughout the facility. Tasks involve standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently), and the use of PPE, computers, specialty tools, and occasional forklift operation in a shop environment that may include humidity, chemicals, and odors.

Requirements

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent
  • Practical experience using computers and maintenance software systems, gained through work or school (e.g., work order systems, technical manuals, data entry), with the ability to accurately document maintenance activities and navigate multiple programs with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely and effectively use basic hand tools, gained through work or school (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, drills), to perform mechanical assembly and disassembly in accordance with standard maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience using, maintaining, and properly storing precision measuring and torqueing devices, gained through work or school (e.g., calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches), with the ability to measure to tolerances as tight as ±0.001" and accurately apply manufacturer-specified torque values.
  • Must be willing and able to use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Eligibility to work in Canada on a permanent basis is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Complete all documents related to the work being performed
  • Disassemble engines as required
  • Assemble main engine, modules and all sub-assemblies
  • Test engines and components
  • Prepare engine for dispatch
  • Model behaviors consistent with good quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices.
