Mechanic, Trainee Maintenance
About The Position
The Mechanical Trainee in Maintenance assists in the upkeep, repair, and inspection of equipment and facilities while gaining hands-on experience and training. Their responsibilities include routine maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting, safety procedures, documentation, training, and collaboration. This role is ideal for individuals eager to learn, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Performance Foodservice, PFG’s broadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with a variety of local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. A team of sales reps, chefs, consultants, and other experts builds close relationships with customers — providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. The Performance team delivers delicious food but also goes above and beyond to help independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
- Willingness to learn and work under the guidance of experienced maintenance professionals is essential.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to operate hand, power, and specialized tools.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial or outdoor settings
Responsibilities
- Support preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates efficiently
- Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems under supervision
- Learn and apply safety protocols during maintenance activities
- Help maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and equipment conditions
- Participate in on-the-job learning opportunities to develop technical skills
- Work closely with senior maintenance staff on various projects
- Performs other duties as assigned
