About The Position

We are currently hiring a 2nd Shift Mechanic Technician for our Ridgefield, NJ facility. Working within established guidelines, a Mechanic Technician is a skilled professional responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of company equipment and plant facilities. Must be able to troubleshoot, identify & diagnose equipment problems; along with perform moderate to complex equipment repairs. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of function when it comes to production equipment and manufacturing processes/operations. The workload involves a blend of proactive and reactive tasks such as routine inspections, troubleshooting and emergency repairs. The pay for this union role paying $31.05 per hour plus $0.50 shift differential. Compensation is based on experience.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent required; vocational training, two-year degree, certificates, or equivalent experience from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • 5-8 years industry maintenance work experience required
  • Ability to obtain or currently have a BLACK SEAL BOILER certificate
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effective present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Performing scheduled inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and replacements of worn parts to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment
  • Follows plant preventative maintenance procedures to improve the facility
  • Capable of data entry and some analysis of our Maintenance Management System (Asset Essentials)
  • Diagnosing problems with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and then executing the necessary repairs, which may involve disassembling and assembling equipment
  • Understand and learn the principles of the compounding processes and materials used
  • Installing new machinery, components, or systems, and thoroughly testing them to ensure proper functionality and safety before deployment
  • Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, as well as documenting any identified issues and solutions
  • Strictly adhering to safety protocols, regulations, and industry best practices while performing all tasks. Always leaving your work area in better shape than when you arrived
  • Reads blueprints, understands plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical system
  • Work independently or in a group maintaining a high standard of workmanship
  • Other assigned tasks as needed
