About The Position

The Maintenance Apprentice will receive on-the-job training on performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and will assist with minor repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of company vehicles. This individual will learn how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standards. We are seeking a motivated, entry-level Technician Apprentice to join our team in the Richmond area. This program is designed to develop early-career mechanics into fully qualified technicians through up to 26 weeks of comprehensive hands-on training across key focus areas, including safety, tires, wheel end, air brake systems, PM inspections, suspension, basic electrical, and basic hydraulics. Please note: This role requires a commitment to working 2nd Shift (2:00 PM to 12:00 AM) following training completion, as well as travel during the training phase.

Requirements

• Completion of an automotive or diesel trade school program.
• Ability to work 2nd Shift hours (2:00 PM – 12:00 AM).
• Willingness to travel during the initial 26-week training period.
• Strong eagerness to learn and grow within the heavy equipment and waste management industry.
• Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located.

Nice To Haves

• 6 to 12 months of experience in automotive, diesel, or military mechanical roles.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on company vehicles.
• Learn to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standards.
• Complete a hands-on curriculum covering PM inspections, air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, suspension, and shop safety.
• Travel during the training period, which may include overnight stays for 1-2 weeks at a time.
• Work 2nd Shift hours (2:00 PM – 12:00 AM) upon completion of training.
