As a Mechanic Supervisor with the Department of Transportation, you will take the lead in directing a team that services and repairs trucks, equipment, and tools essential to roadway operations. This role will give you the chance to share your expertise while supporting safe, reliable equipment across Westmoreland County. Requirements

  • Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with possession of the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
  • Possession of a valid Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct troubleshooting and repair work on vehicles, equipment, and hand tools
  • Monitor completion and accuracy of state vehicle inspections and related documentation
  • Assign tasks, review work orders, and check parts and time charges for correctness
  • Ensure the shop remains clean, safe, and compliant with all safety procedures
  • Evaluate performance, schedule staff, handle training needs, and support employee development
  • Purchase parts, maintain inventory, and support major repair efforts when needed
