Requirements

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
  • General mechanical background and training with some knowledge of pipefitting, carpentry, and mechanical mechanisms, and tools and measuring instruments associated with the work.
  • Must understand overhaul methods and repair techniques for mechanical equipment, and work from drawings and service manuals.
  • Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training.
  • 1-2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the mechanical work necessary to install, overhaul, maintain, alter, and repair equipment assigned to facilities maintenance and construction.
  • Focus on rigging, welding, heavy equipment operation, and other millwright functions.
  • Perform associated duties throughout the plant as assigned.
  • Under direction of Leader/Supervisor, follow specific instructions and use drawings, manuals, and other specifications to obtain required materials, tools, and equipment and carry out assignments.
  • Perform system and component installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
  • Provide assistance to others in system operation, care, use, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Work in support of others on special projects.
  • Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description.
  • Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
  • Refer difficulties to Leader/Supervisor.
  • May be required to train for, obtain, and maintain licenses, operator permits, and certifications within assigned trade specialization.
