About The Position

This position provides skilled and semi-skilled mechanical maintenance and maintenance duties at all District facilities. Works closely with customers to determine solutions to routine and nonroutine maintenance needs by gathering information, researching options and implementing resolutions which meet customer needs and are cost effective.

Requirements

  • Two years of mechanical maintenance work experience (required)
  • Knowledge of operation of snow removal equipment, lifts, fork lifts, etc… (required)
  • Valid WI driver's license required.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct in all aspects of the work environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, candidates, and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.

Nice To Haves

  • Apprenticeship in appropriate related area (preferred)
  • General knowledge, with an emphasis in at least one area, of HVAC, electrical, construction, and plumbing (preferred)
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics (preferred)
  • Computer knowledge (preferred)
  • Knowledge of building automation system (Alerton preferred)
  • Building Operator Certification is preferred.
  • Cross Connection Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance support for the physical plant including the repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of air handling, air conditioning equipment, boilers, elevators, pumps, electrical systems, plumbing, motors, building envelope repairs (roofs, fascia, siding, and doors).
  • Identify and specify parts and supplies needed for repairs.
  • Obtain quotes from contractors.
  • Determine solutions to routine and nonroutine customer maintenance needs, often including wood and metal fabrication.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building envelope system problems.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance activities, including inspections, for all building systems.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all fire alarm, clock, PA systems, cross connections, fire wall testing, and elevator testing.
  • Complete repairs (e.g. wall repairs, flooring repairs, ceiling repairs, caulking, ceiling tile replacement, broken fixtures, etc.).
  • Support mechanical maintenance team members with repair and upgrading of building systems.
  • Support in-house construction projects requested while taking a leading role in welding and fabrication of piping systems.
  • As well as performing internal construction projects as needed.
  • Plan and perform minor construction or remodeling projects such as removal and installing of water fountains, fire extinguisher cabinets, AED cabinets, eyewash stations, faucets, and ejector pumps.
  • Maintain, monitor, and test chemical water treatment systems for cooling tower, chilled water loop, and hot water loop and coordinate quarterly system testing with contractor.
  • Maintain filter purchases, replacement, and disposal for water fountains.
  • Support event set ups as requested.
  • Support grounds care, including exterior signage, fencing, mowing, trimming, etc.
  • Support back-up for the building automation system.
  • Participate on College’s Appleton based snow removal team during normal working hours or request by Lead Grounds Crew.
  • Reconcile p-card transactions on a timely basis.
