About The Position

The Maintenance Technician at Savage’s Lake Charles Louisiana Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility.

Requirements

  • Must meet refinery standards for entering the plant, i.e. clean criminal history, ability to pass a drug & alcohol screen, possess a current Driver’s License and TWIC card at the time of applying
  • Experience needed in troubleshooting and repairin hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Experience needed in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plus
  • Has an invested interest in operational safety
  • Be able to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Prepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Environmental awareness
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective interfacing with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team members
  • Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policies
  • Ability to be on call at designated times.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
  • A strong record of continuous improvement, personal development and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience a plus
  • Willingness to do a significant amount of preventative maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpful
  • Certifications preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on pickups, mobile equipment, tractors and trailers at our Lake Charles, LA facility.
  • Assists with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
  • Learn and partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures
  • Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed
  • Support other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Maintenance Supervisor, even in areas outside typical diesel mechanic duties
