About The Position

REMSA was established to oversee Care Flight and REMSA Health operations and to coordinate emergency medical service activities through a central emergency medical communications center. REMSA Health answers to its Board of Directors with responsibility to the Washoe County District Health Department. Within this general framework, this position is accountable for the following functions: Work with the Fleet Manager to maintain a fleet of emergency ambulances, and other company vehicles. Assist the Manager in developing and maintaining a top-notch maintenance program that focuses upon the continued safe and reliable operation of the fleet. Perform all necessary repairs, checks and preventative maintenance that is required up to and including major overhauls. Always maintain a clean and safe work area. Assist the Manager in educating the operators about the various functions of the vehicles. Become familiar and be able to repair to applicable standards all interior non-medical equipment such as gurneys, fasteners, lifts, and emergency warning devices. Always be courteous and helpful to employees and represent the organization in a professional manner. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a professional mechanic required.
  • EPA 609 Certification required within six months of hire.
  • OSHA 10-hour required within six months of hire.
  • ASE A4/A5 certification within 24 months of hire.
  • Complete internal training modules A1-A8 within 18 months of hire.
  • A valid and clear Nevada or California Driver license.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to operate common shop hand and power tools.
  • Self-starter requiring little oversight.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to read and make practical applications of shop manuals and manufacturer bulletins.
  • Must be able to operate simple computer programs and modern vehicular diagnostic equipment.
  • EMS vehicles must be maintained to “aircraft standards” and the incumbent must be able to perform preventative maintenance and checks to assure the best reliability possible.
  • Must be adaptable to change and be able to function in a team-based environment.
