Mechanic Helper
About The Position
Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time General Mechanic Helper to support its fleet in Bexar County, Texas. The position involves a variety of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair tasks, while following applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures. The employee must provide their own basic mechanic’s tools. The schedule is Monday through Friday and on-call. The employee must be flexible and able to work during weather events. The role requires working safely in varied environmental and weather conditions, using hand and power tools, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidates must pass background, motor vehicle record, and controlled substance testing before hire.
Requirements
- Five years of repair and maintenance experience with a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
- Clean driving record; must meet company background-check standards, including criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing.
- Ability to carry out simple arithmetic functions.
- Knowledge of and ability to adapt to the latest technology.
- Ability to use a smartphone and applications.
- Ability to adjust to a changing work schedule.
- Ability to work safely under varied environmental and weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- High level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment and safety.
- Must provide own basic mechanic’s tools.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a general mechanic or mechanic helper.
- Vocational training, a technical certificate, or equivalent.
