We have a current opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at our yard in Irving, TX. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will report to the Shop Manager and be responsible for delegating and prioritizing incoming work orders to other mechanics. Work orders include servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and the rebuilding of major components on heavy equipment and vehicles. The mechanic ensures accurate diagnosis, repair, and/or replacement of components.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience as a mechanic working on construction equipment and trucks
  • Automotive electrical experience, hydraulic experience, etc.
  • Must have valid Class C driver’s license with clean DMV
  • Experience and skill in operating tools, equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and services of vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose need repair of equipment and vehicles
  • Able to work effectively in an independent and team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Class A License, preferred
  • Experience with welding/fabrication, preferred
  • Experience supervising and mentoring a mechanic staff and prioritizing work orders, preferred
  • Ability to travel to different jobsites to perform services & repairs in the field

Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance service on fleet of vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment, repair, and rebuild as required.
  • Use proper tools and equipment suited for the task being performed.
  • Maintain vehicle records by recording services and repairs in TENNA.
  • Preplan the order of activities and materials needed to complete tasks with minimal interruptions.
  • Perform quality control on their work and the work of others.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment of varying sizes and types to ensure proper working order.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop and workspace aligning with a safe and functioning work area.
  • Utilize mechanical expertise to reduce downtime of company equipment.
  • Troubleshoot various mechanical issues.
