About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to join their team in Bloomington, IL. This is a full-time position with a $10,000 sign-on bonus. Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned company founded in 1978, specializing in standard, next-day ground delivery, with operations expanding throughout the Midwest. The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing various vehicle systems including diesel engines, powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions.
Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn.
Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet.
Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive.
Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.
Use scan tool and laptop technology.
Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader.
Work independently and/or with a team.
Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment.
Help maintain an effective and clean work environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
