About The Position

This is an opportunity to learn and grow within Purolator, helping to deliver on customer promises. The Diesel Mechanic inspects, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs assigned on-/off-road and heavy duty equipment to ensure proper function and vehicle safety and meet quality and performance goals. The role involves working on both gasoline and diesel equipment.

Requirements

  • Trade certification as an Automotive Service Technician (310T) to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components for cars, buses, and trucks.
  • 5 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining automotive equipment.
  • 310T Automotive Service Technician Certificate
  • G driver license required (Class A preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, and repair delivery and related vehicles to meet vehicle safety, operational, and productivity goals and standards.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs, order parts, document and update work orders, communicate with suppliers and operations.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and report quality control issues to determine their cause and identify if mechanical or general repairs or changes to the vehicle warranty are required.
  • Conduct repairs, order and install parts, and inform customers of the status of repairs.
  • Maintain parts inventory and purchase parts required for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Determine if parts can be rebuilt or repaired and returned to the active inventory.
  • Coordinate administrative requirements for preventative maintenance.
  • Provide emergency road service when vehicles break down on route to assess if the vehicle can be repaired on site.
  • Identify root causes and repair options.
  • Arrange for trucks to be picked up through third party vendors (towing companies).
