About The Position

Our Jaffrey headquarters is looking for a Mechanic - Diesel Specialist. This role is responsible for the repair of trucks, forklifts, and other mechanical equipment. The specialist will maintain a working knowledge of and moderate skill proficiency in various vehicle components and systems, performing preventative and repair maintenance both on-site and on the road. Responsibilities include chassis component repair, hydraulic and electrical systems, braking systems, engine repair, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, and heating and air conditioning. The role also involves line maintenance welding and fabrication, coordination and scheduling of annual vehicle inspections, and installing/replacing GPS units. The specialist will learn to utilize Geotab for record keeping and provide road service when necessary to ensure equipment is returned to operation safely and efficiently. Identifying the source of malfunctions using electronic tools and knowledge is key. Other duties include keeping the shop clean, logging daily work, lifting over 70 pounds, and driving long distances (2+ hours).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.
  • Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a physical test and obtain a DOT medical card.
