The Sheet Metal/Structures Mechanic is responsible for the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Works under minimal supervision. This role requires intermediate knowledge of all areas of the aircraft and assigned work area, with the ability to repair, modify, replace, or otherwise perform routine aircraft maintenance work in specialized areas. The mechanic will develop repair schemes utilizing SRM or Engineering data, conduct operational tests, and communicate effectively with other maintenance personnel. Responsibilities include completing job assignments in a timely manner, accurately clocking to jobs, and performing other duties as assigned. Specific tasks involve repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft component structures, repairing and modifying flight control surfaces and components, utilizing special installation tools and OEM/Engineering drawings, completing specialized tasks like flap peening and cold working, and fabricating repair parts using shop tooling.
